The A Line extension to Pomona opens Friday, September 19 at noon.
Yes. Metro is inviting the public to join opening day festivities on Friday, Sept. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Metro’s “Rock the Rails” celebration will take place at the four new stations with DJs and food trucks, plus live performances by local bands at Pomona North Station.
Yes. All rides on Metro Bus, Rail, Bike Share and Metro Micro will be free from the start of service on Friday, Sept. 19 through 3 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22.
With the extension, the A Line grows to 57.6 miles and 48 stations, making it the longest light rail line in the world.

Most trips run between Downtown Long Beach and Pomona.

Yes. Nearly 1,200 new paid parking spots are available across the four stations:
- Glendora: 302 spaces
- San Dimas: 289 spaces
- La Verne/Fairplex: 300 spaces
- Pomona North: 300 spaces (shared with Metrolink)
All lots include EV chargers, bike parking, bus and rideshare drop-off zones, and pedestrian-friendly access.
Foothill Transit serves the extension with multiple routes, including new and restructured lines. Key routes include Lines 291, 492, 284, 197 and new Line 295 connecting San Dimas, Cal Poly Pomona and Mt. SAC.
Yes. At Pomona North Station, riders can transfer to Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line, offering trips to the Inland Empire, Pasadena, Highland Park, Downtown LA and beyond.
Metro uses a three-pronged safety approach:
- Visible presence: Sheriff’s deputies, Metro Transit Security, private security, transit ambassadors, and outreach teams.
- Strong access control: New, taller fare gates with sensors and accessibility improvements.
- Helping people in need: Expanded partnerships with local service providers like Union Station Homeless Services and Christ Centered Ministries.
Yes. Ambassadors will be on hand at stations and on trains to assist riders.
Metro runs an active rail safety education program in local schools and communities. Key reminders:
- Stay behind the yellow line.
- Never go around lowered gates.
- Look both ways at crossings.
- Drivers: don’t try to beat the train or turn in front of it.
The extension improves access to:

- Pomona Fairplex (home to the LA County Fair and 2028 Olympic cricket)
