Metro (the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority) is unique among the nation’s transportation agencies. We serve as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country’s largest, most populous counties. More than 9.6 million people – nearly one-third of California’s residents – live, work, and play within our 1,433-square-mile service area.

Accessibility Advisory Committee
Metro's Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) reviews, comments and provides input on issues relating to Metro accessibility for riders with disabilities.

Advanced Transit Vehicle Consortium
The mission of the Advanced Transit Vehicle Consortium (ATVC) is to encourage the development of advanced transit vehicle technologies, particularly in areas of high capacity transit vehicles, low emission propulsion technologies and advanced composite vehicle structures.

Blue Ribbon Committee
The Blue Ribbon Committee is an initiative to develop a regional transit service concept which will serve as the blueprint for the transit system in which systems integration/coordination, service quality attractiveness, customer/employee focus, and sustainability are critical elements.

Citizens Advisory Council
The CAC shall consult, obtain and collect public input on matters of interest and concern to the community and will communicate the CAC’s recommendations with respect to such issues to Metro. Issues may also be assigned to the CAC by Metro for its review, comment and recommendation.

Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committees
The Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committees are independent committees formed to monitor and ensure that all tax measure revenue is spent for transportation purposes as specified in ordinances.

Local Service Councils
Metro’s local Service Councils advise on planning and implementation of Metro services in five geographic regions.

Metro Policy Advisory Council
The Metro Policy Advisory Council (PAC) has been established to review, comment and provide input on the draft Measure M Master Guidelines (Guidelines), the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and possibly other work plans and policy areas that the Metro Board may request.

Metro Sustainability Council
The mission of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) Sustainability Council is to advise LA Metro regarding its sustainability-related activities and projects; and to continually improve sustainability efforts by developing targets, metrics, and strategies to assist LA Metro achieve stated sustainability program goals.

Technical Advisory Committee
The establishment of a Technical Advisory Committee is required by state law dating back to the formation of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission, predecessor agency to Metro. Since its formal inception in 1977, the TAC has undergone periodic reviews of its membership, functions and responsibilities based upon the changing needs of this agency; however, its function remains relatively unchanged.

Transportation Business Advisory Council
Transportation Business Advisory Council (TBAC) is a group of professional business associations representing an array of industries and trades that plays an important role in advocating for small business owners to have increased access to Metro contracting opportunities.

Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority Board
The Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority is an independent transportation planning, design and construction agency created by state legislation in 2003.

Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority
The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority is an independent transportation planning, design and construction agency created in 1998 by the California State Legislature.

Southern California Regional Rail Authority (Metrolink)
Metrolink is governed by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), a joint powers authority made up of an 11-member board representing the transportation commissions of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. Metrolink trains operate on seven routes across a six-county, 538 route-mile network, which includes a portion of northern San Diego County.
