Metro is building a rail line that will provide riders a seamless journey from Azusa to Long Beach, and from East Los Angeles to Santa Monica, through the downtown LA core. The project includes three new underground stations, and extends from the L Line (Gold) in Little Tokyo and Arts District communities to the A (Blue) and E (Expo) lines at 7th Street/Metro Center Station.
Location: Central Los Angeles
Type: Better Transit
Forecasted Opening: 2022
This project makes it easier to ride across LA County as passengers will be able to travel between Azusa and Long Beach, and between East Los Angeles and Santa Monica, without transferring lines. It will improve connections, bringing together the Metro L (Gold), A (Blue), E (Expo), B (Red) and D (Purple) Lines at the 7th Street/Metro Center Station, and increases opportunities to jobs, education and essential services.
Little Tokyo/Arts District Station – located at 1st St/Central Av
Historic Broadway Station –located at 2nd St/Broadway

Weekend closures of 7th St. Metro Center & Pico Stations for Regional Connector work are now in place to complete this better transit project and allow construction crews to perform uninterrupted communication and systems tie-in work.
Dates: Friday, July 30 – Sunday, Dec. 10
When: Friday at 9 pm to Sunday 5 am
Metro will provide free bus shuttle service from 7th St. Metro Center and Pico stations to Grand/LATTC A Line (Blue) Station and LATTC/Ortho Institute Station for E Line (Expo).
