Metro is building the “missing link” in downtown LA with The Regional Connector Transit Project. This project will include three new rail stations and extend from Little Tokyo/Arts District Station to the 7th Street/Metro Center Station, to serve downtown LA and providing riders a more seamless journey to and through the downtown core LA.
Location: Central Los Angeles
Type: Better Transit
Forecasted Opening: 2022
This project makes it easier to ride across LA County as passengers will be able to travel between Azusa and Long Beach, and between East Los Angeles and Santa Monica, without transferring lines. It will improve connections, bringing together the Metro L (Gold), A (Blue), E (Expo), B (Red) and D (Purple) Lines at the 7th Street/Metro Center Station, and increases opportunities to jobs, education and essential services.
Little Tokyo/Arts District Station – 1st St/Central Av
Historic Broadway Station – 2nd St/Broadway
GrandAv Arts/Bunker Hill Station – 2nd Pl/Hope St
Project construction began in 2014 and it is slated to open for service in 2022. Tunneling work and construction on the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station, Historic Broadway Station and Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill Station is 81% complete.
Weekend closures of 7th St. Metro Center & Pico Stations for Regional Connector work will be in place to complete this better transit project and allow construction crews to perform uninterrupted communication and systems tie-in work.
