When FIFA World Cup 2026™ kicks off in Los Angeles in just 100 days, Metro will be ready to help fútbol fanatics score winning service to all eight matches. As the official public transit provider for the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host City, Metro will ensure fans get to and from these unforgettable matches safely, sustainably and seamlessly.
“Metro is the smartest, safest, easiest, and most fun way to get to the World Cup,” said Fernando Dutra, Metro Board Chair and City of Whittier Council Member. “Instead of paying for some of the most expensive stadium parking or sitting in traffic, people can focus on what matters most – celebrating the love of soccer with fellow fans from around the world while going to and from the games.”
With Angelenos being joined by fans from around the world for the eight matches being played in Los Angeles and limited parking availability at Los Angeles Stadium, Metro and its regional transit partners will provide affordable and direct service from key rail stations and locations throughout the region including:
- Crenshaw Station
- Downtown Long Beach
- El Camino College
- Harbor Gateway Transit Center
- Hawthorne/Lennox Station
- LA Union Station
- LAX/Metro Transit Center Station
- North Hollywood Station
- Pierce College
Additional locations will be announced in the coming months.
Metro’s World Cup Service will get fans to the Los Angeles Stadium up to three hours before kickoff and the last service will depart up to 90 minutes after the match ends. Fares for the enhanced service will be the same as regular Metro fares, $1.75 one-way and $3.50 round-trip.
Parking reservations are now available, and pricing will differ by location. Early-bird pricing is currently in effect, ranging from $55 – $95, plus a service fee. Compared to the other parking pricing where rates will be more than two and three times the Metro rates, fans are encouraged to make their plans and book early for discounted Metro parking rates. “The World Cup is more than just a popular tournament, it’s a moment of national and global significance,” said Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins. “And it’s a transformative moment for Metro. We are ready to be the first choice for transportation for those enjoying World Cup matches in Los Angeles, delivering fast, safe, and easy transit tailored to the scale of this event. The improvements we are putting in place for these matches will leave a lasting legacy and strengthen public transportation for Angelenos and visitors long after the FIFA World Cup Trophy is awarded to this year’s champion.”
Metro is partnering with more than 10 regional transit providers and charter companies to deliver the World Cup Service, including Long Beach Transit.
“Public transportation is a powerful force that connects communities on a truly global stage during the World Cup,” said Long Beach Transit CEO Kenneth A. McDonald. “At Long Beach Transit, we’re proud to welcome the world by delivering dependable mobility that brings fans, families and cultures together.”
Additionally, for fans traveling via Metro Rail, Metro will be enhancing rail service on key routes during the World Cup.
To help Angelenos new to the system and visitors from around the globe navigate Metro and Metro’s World Cup Service, the agency has carefully developed enhanced multilingual wayfinding and has plans to deploy extra Ambassadors, volunteers and security to get people where they need to go quickly and efficiently.
Metro is also ensuring all Word Cup Service will be accessible for fans of all abilities with additional details on accessible services being released at a later date.
The fan experience will begin on Metro, as it does for fans attending L.A. sports and entertainment events including LAFC and Angel City matches, Dodgers games and World Series celebrations, Rose Bowl game and parade, and concerts at SoFi Stadium, Intuit Dome, and the Hollywood Bowl.
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently allocated $100 million to transit systems across the United States that will be moving fans to and from FIFA World Cup 2026 games later this year. This funding was made available by Congress in the recently adopted Fiscal Year 2026 transportation spending bill. Of the $100 million appropriated by Congress for transit systems nationwide and consistent with a formula written into the funding legislation, Metro will coordinate the use of $9.6 million in FTA funding.
