Metro fares are simple and affordable.

Regular Fare $1.75

  • Daily Cap
    Pay for 3 rides in one day. Ride free after that. Never pay more than $5. 
  • 7-day Cap
    Ride all week. Never pay more than $18. 
  • Free Transfers
    Transfers are free within two hours when you tap to ride.

Students, seniors, riders with disabilities and low-income riders may qualify for free or reduced rides.

How to Ride

New to Metro? Here’s what to expect. 

On the Bus 

  1. Wait at a marked stop. 
  2. Board at the front door. 
  3. Tap your card or pay your fare. 
  4. Pull the cord or press the stop button before your stop. 

On the Train 

  1. Load your fare before boarding. 
  2. Tap at the station validator. 
  3. Board through any open door. 
  4. Listen for stop announcements. 

Transfers 
Transfers between Metro buses and trains are free within two hours when you use TAP or contactless payment. 

Riding Courtesy 
Give priority seating when needed. Keep aisles clear. Be mindful of noise. 

Safety, Security and Accessibility

Metro is committed to safe and accessible service for every rider. 

Safety 

  • Security personnel and transit ambassadors are available systemwide. 
  • Use Transit Watch or call Customer Care to report concerns. 

Accessibility

  • All buses and trains are wheelchair accessible. 
  • Elevators and accessibility features are available at rail stations. 
  • Operators can assist with boarding ramps and securement.
