Metro has a plan to make it easier to get around, with better transit to expand access to opportunities.
Metro’s Rail Network Integration Study for Los Angeles County will look at opportunities to integrate service between Metro’s existing and future network with the statewide rail system, and facilitate interagency coordination on infrastructure developments and investments. This study will focus on identifying integration opportunities in Van Nuys, Burbank, and the Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs area, where high transfer activities are anticipated between Metro Rail, regional rail and commuter rail systems and future California High Speed Rail stations. The study aims to identify policy recommendations, infrastructure improvements and operational enhancements.
This study supports the goals of Metro Vision 2028 Strategic Plan, as well as the 2018 California State Rail Plan by planning for seamless travel experiences across rail and public transit in California, with benefits for social equity and sustainability.
Metro is in the early phase of the study effort. Stakeholder engagement will be key to understanding needs and priorities for network integration at the state, regional and local levels. In Summer/Fall 2021, Metro initiated the first round of targeted stakeholder briefings. In early 2022, the project team continued data collection for baseline conditions analysis and will begin identification of integration opportunities. The draft study report is anticipated by Summer 2023.
