The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) contractor for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project — Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) — will implement full directional street closures on Crenshaw Boulevard at 48th Street to continue street restoration work beginning Monday, September 28.
The 10 days of continuous full street closures will be conducted in two phases and will include demolition, excavation, backfill and paving at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and 48th Street.
Phase 1: Southbound Crenshaw Boulevard
Thework has been scheduled from 6 a.m. Monday, September 28, through 6 p.m. Friday, October 2, on the southbound side of Crenshaw Boulevard. The northbound lanes will remain open during this time. This work requires:
- Full closure of southbound Crenshaw Boulevard between Brynhurst Avenue and 48th Street.
- Full Closure of 48th Street between Victoria Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard.
Southbound traffic detour:
If you are traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard during the closure, turn east on Vernon Avenue, turn south on Western Avenue, turn west on Slauson Avenue and then turn south on Crenshaw Boulevard.
Phase 2: Northbound Crenshaw Boulevard
The work on the northbound side of Crenshaw Boulevard has been scheduled from 6 a.m. Monday, October 5, through 6 p.m. Friday, October 9. The southbound lanes will be open during this time. This work requires:
- Full closure of northbound Crenshaw Boulevard between 48th Street and 46th Street.
- Full closure of westbound 48th Street between 11th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard.
Northbound traffic detour:
If you are traveling northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard during the closure, turn east on Slauson Avenue, turn north on Western Avenue, turn west on Vernon Avenue and then turn north on Crenshaw Boulevard.
Safety
During construction, emergency and pedestrian access to area businesses will be maintained. All essential businesses will remain open and accessible during the restoration process. However, driveway access may be restricted.
Construction is a dynamic process and information is subject to change without notice.

Metro Bus Service
During the restoration period, Metro Bus Lines 40, 210, 710 and 740 will be detoured beginning Monday, September 28. Bus stops will also be relocated or changed. Metro has posted signs to that effect in English and Spanish to notify passengers of temporary locations of bus stops. The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an 8.5-mile light rail line that will include eight new stations to serve the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX communities. A ninth station will be added after opening to connect the Crenshaw/LAX Line, Metro C Line (Green) and bus lines to the future LAX Automated People Mover.
