Location: Gateway Cities, South Bay Cities
Phase: Design & Engineering
Type: Less Traffic
Metro’s plan for less congestion includes improvements to the SR-91 corridor between Central Avenue and Acacia Court. This Early Action Project is part of the I-605 Hot Spots Program and will create new roads parallel to SR-91 to reduce merge and diverge movements, improve traffic flow and enhance safety. The project also includes local road improvements to create a safer environment for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Metro and Caltrans are working with the Gateway Cities Council of Governments and the cities of Compton and Carson on this Early Action Project. A public review of the Draft Initial Study (IS)/Environmental Assessment (EA) was completed in early 2021, followed by public input. The Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND)/Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) was approved Spring 2021.
