Reduced Fares for Seniors
Seniors age 62 and older are eligible for a discount with a Reduced Fare TAP card, or by purchasing a one-way fare at the discount price for seniors.
Qualified seniors pay 75 cents or 35 cents for a one-way ride, depending on the time of day.
Do you qualify?
If you’re age 62 or older, you get a discount on your Metro fare. Simply apply for a Reduced Fare TAP card for Seniors 62+, or pay the discount fare for a one-way trip on Metro buses and trains.
Already have a Metro discount?
You may be able to combine other discounts, such as the LIFE program, with the senior Reduced Fare benefits.

Reduced Fare TAP Card
A Reduced Fare TAP card is your key to fare discounts. TAP is a reloadable fare card that offers a convenient way to pay on Metro. TAP can also be used to pay fare with 26 other transit agencies across LA County.
Pay 75 cents or 35 cents for a One-Way Ride
Discounts are determined by the time of day:
Monday–Friday 5–9am and 3–7pm
75 cents
Monday–Friday 9am–3pm and 7pm–5am
35 cents
Saturday–Sunday all day
35 cents
Federal Holidays
35 cents
Daily Cap
Never pay more than $2.50 a day.
7-Day Cap
Ride all week, and never pay more than $5.
Free Transfers
Transfers on Metro are free within two hours when you pay with TAP.
Discounted passes for other transit agencies
Seniors can get discounted fares with other LA County transit agencies; the senior age requirement varies by transit agency. Call TAP Customer Service at 866.TAPTOGO (866.827.8646) or individual transit agencies for details.

You can sign up in person at any Metro Customer Center (same-day processing available).
No time to fill out an application?
Buy your one-way Seniors 62+ discount fare on a regular TAP card at a TAP vending machine. Be ready to show proof of age, such as an official photo ID.
