Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a second track needed?

The single track forces trains to wait for others to pass, causing delays and unreliable service. A second track improves operations and rider experience.

Will this increase the number of trains?

Not right away. The project improves reliability now and allows for future increases as demand grows.

What safety improvements are planned?

Sixteen crossings will meet Quiet Zone standards, and a pedestrian underpass near Burbank Airport will improve safety for all travelers.

Will trains move closer to homes or businesses?

Most work stays within the existing right-of-way, but some areas may shift tracks slightly closer. Metro is minimizing impacts through careful design.

How does this benefit Metrolink riders?

Riders will see fewer delays, more reliable schedules, and a better overall experience on the Antelope Valley Line.

What will happen to the bike path?

Some segments may shift sides of the tracks to fit the new design. Metro will maintain safe, continuous access for cyclists and pedestrians.
