Free Transit Pass for Students in K-12 and Community College
Students at participating K-12 and adult schools and community colleges can ride anywhere, anytime for free on Metro buses and trains with a student GoPass.
Already have a GoPass? Activate it online in a few easy steps to start riding.
How Your Student GoPass Works
- Pick up a GoPass TAP card from your participating school.
- Activate your new GoPass online or by calling 866.TAPTOGO. Wait 1 hour for your registration to be processed before riding.
- Tap your card at a Metro train station gate, bus farebox or validator, or at any TAP Vending Machine within 14 days to complete the activation.
- K-12 and adult school students can ride Metro and other participating transit agencies for free through September 30, 2027 with a 2026-27 GoPass. Community college students should confirm pass dates with their school campus.
- Take a photo of the back of your GoPass TAP card in case it is lost or stolen. Contact your school for a replacement card and activation code, and then activate the new card to start riding.
