What is the Business Interruption Fund?

Metro’s Business Interruption Fund is a construction mitigation program that helps small, locally owned businesses thrive while Metro rail project construction is underway. As major rail corridors are built across Los Angeles County, adjacent businesses may experience temporary disruptions due to active construction. This initiative provides direct financial grants to eligible mom-and-pop shops, commercial property owners, and non-profit organizations to help bridge revenue gaps and safeguard neighborhood vitality.

The program is administered in partnership with Pacific Coast Regional Business Finance (PCR) and features two types of grants:

Standard Grants: Offer up to $6O,OOO per impact year for established small businesses that demonstrate verifiable revenue losses directly tied to construction impacts.
Presumptive Eligibility Awards (PEA): Provide streamlined grants of up to $1,5OO per impact year for micro-businesses, including sidewalk and street vendors, using fewer documentation requirements.

By keeping local enterprises open for business, the BIF helps ensure that our vibrant neighborhood corridors continue to prosper before, during, and after new transit infrastructure has been built.

Grant Applications Open for Rail Corridors with Active Construction

Grant applications are actively accepted and processed on a rolling basis for eligible small businesses located directly adjacent to active Metro rail construction work.

D Line (Purple) Extension: Section 1, Section 2, and Section 3
East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project (Van Nuys Blvd corridor)

Past Corridors (Closed to New Claims):

Crenshaw/LAX (K Line) Transit Project
Regional Connector (Little Tokyo area and 2nd/Broadway segment)

Note: Eligible businesses along active alignments may apply for each impact year that construction disruption occurs.
