Rail to River Active Transportation Corridor Project – Segment B
Segment B of the Rail to River project is a biking and walking path connecting A Line Slauson Station to the LA River.
Location: Gateway Cities
Phase: Early Planning
Type: Complete Streets
Forecasted Opening: Unknown
Metro’s plan includes complete streets that are safer for everyone. Segment B of the Rail to River project is a biking and walking path connecting Slauson Station to the LA River, improving active transportation options, connections to transit and creating access to opportunity. Segment A connects east to the future Fairview Heights Station.
Metro concluded an alternatives analysis on Segment B of the Rail to River project in 2017, selecting Randolph Street as the Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA). However, the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor project is also planned for Randolph St and technical analyses determined that the existing right-of-way could not accommodate both projects. Metro is conducting a Supplemental Alternatives Analysis study to re-evaluate alternatives for this project, with plans to select a new Preferred Alternative in Fall/Winter 2021/2022.
