It’s easy to explore destinations all around town on Metro. Learn how to get started with a FREE guided rail tour of the Metro Expo, Red and Purple Lines.
Metro’s tour guides will provide useful tips on how to:
- Purchase and load a Transit Access Pass (TAP) card
- Plan a trip
- Use Nextrip and Metro’s mobile app
- Transfer between different bus/rail lines
- Identify transit connections and destinations
Learn about Metro’s current and future rail lines and how Metro can become a commuting alternative for you. Bike and safety tips will also be provided.
Tours take place every day and begin at various Metro Rail stations.
Tours are free, however tour guests are responsible for purchasing their own TAP cards. Cards cost $1, and can be loaded with one-way fare ($1.75), roundtrip fare ($3.50) or a Day Pass ($7), which is good for travel all day on any Metro bus or rail line.

Please note that tour requests will be processed on a first come, first served basis. There will be a maximum of 20 people on each tour.
Upon request, Metro staff can also make visits to local businesses, schools, colleges, libraries, and senior and cultural centers along our rail lines. They are available Monday through Friday. To request a site visit and presentation, click here.
