Public Hearing on Proposed Readiness Efforts for Transfer on 2nd Boarding

Metro will hold a public hearing on January 17, 2018 to receive community input in preparation for Transfer on 2 nd Boarding. Transfer on 2 nd Boarding refers to the board-approved policy for customers transferring between agencies.  This approved policy (1) eliminates the need for paper transfers by allowing transfers to be automatically deducted from Stored Value on a TAP card upon the second boarding, and (2) extends the transfer eligibility time from 2 hours to 2.5 hours from the first boarding.  These approved changes are planned for Spring 2018.

To prepare customers for Transfer on 2 nd Boarding, the Metro Board of Directors will be asked to consider the following changes:

  • Replace Day Pass sales with Store Value sales onboard Metro buses
  • Transition token users to TAP
  • Implement a consistent $2 TAP card price to customers across all purchase points

The Notice of Public Hearing is available for review. Please also see the FAQ page .

The public is encouraged to attend this hearing and comment on the proposals. Public hearing details are as follows:
