What is an EZ transit pass?
The EZ transit pass is a monthly pass good for local and express travel on 23 different public transit providers throughout the greater Los Angeles region.
Which transit providers honor the EZ transit pass?
Antelope Valley Transportation Authority (AVTA), Baldwin Park Transit, Beach Cities Transit, BurbankBus, Carson Circuit Transit System, City of Monterey Park Spirit Bus, Culver CityBus, Foothill Transit, GTrans (Gardena), Glendale Beeline, Huntington Park Transit Unlimited, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, LAX Flyaway, LADOT Transit (DASH & Commuter Express), Long Beach Transit, Metro Bus and Metro Rail, Montebello Bus Lines, Norwalk Transit System, Palos Verdes Peninsula Transit Authority, Pasadena Transit, Santa Clarita Transit, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, and Torrance Transit.
Does Metrolink honor the EZ transit pass?
The EZ transit pass is not honored by Metrolink; however, valid Metrolink tickets or passes identified with an EZ logo will be accepted for local travel by participating transit providers with the exception of Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus. Please contact your transit provider for details.
How do I know which EZ transit pass to purchase?
The base EZ transit pass is accepted by various transit operators for local routes. Express services typically require a higher zone pass. Please contact your transit provider for additional details.
Do I need to purchase a transfer if I have an EZ transit pass?
No transfers are necessary between the EZ transit pass participants; the EZ transit pass eliminates fumbling for transfers or extra coins when transferring between transit providers. Zone upcharges may apply to Express services if traveling with a base EZ transit pass.
How to Purchase
Can I load an EZ transit pass onto my TAP card?
Yes. EZ transit passes will be loaded directly onto your TAP card.
Where can I buy an EZ transit pass?
When can I buy an EZ transit pass?
The EZ transit pass is a calendar based monthly pass, valid from the first to the end of the month. The pass needs to be loaded prior to the 15th of every month in order to work that month. For example, a September EZ transit pass can only be picked up between the 15th of the August and the 14th of September.
How much does an EZ transit pass cost?
The base EZ transit pass is $110 for local routes or $42 for Senior/Disabled/Medicare riders. Freeway Express services require higher zone passes. Please contact your local transit provider for details.
What are the additional costs to the EZ transit pass?
The base EZ transit pass is $110 for local routes or $42 for Senior/Disabled/Medicare riders. Zone passes higher than the base zone may be purchased for long distances and express routes for an additional $22 per zone ($9.50 for Senior, Disabled, and Medicare). There are 14 different zone passes available for local and express travel.
How long is the EZ transit pass valid?
The EZ transit pass is a calendar based monthly pass, valid from the first day of the month through the last day of the month.
What if I want to use my EZ transit base pass and pay cash for express routes?
The base EZ transit pass will be good for local travel; you may pay cash for the zone upcharge on an express route. Cash payment is not available on all systems. Zone charges vary by carrier, check with your local transit provider for payment information.
How much is the zone upcharge?
Zone fares vary by carrier. Bus operators quote the correct zone upcharge.
What are higher zone passes?
The higher zones indicate the routes you may travel without paying extra upcharges.
Do Senior/Disabled/Medicare passengers pay a zone fare?
Yes. Senior/Disabled/Medicare may purchase a reduced EZ transit pass or pay a cash zone fare for each zone trip for express routes when using the base EZ transit pass.
Do students pay zone fares?
Yes. There are no reduced fare rates for students. Students may purchase a regular EZ transit pass or pay a cash zone upcharge for express routes when using the base EZ transit pass.
Do I need to show my ID with my EZ transit pass?
Yes. If you are using the Senior/Disabled/ Medicare EZ transit pass, be prepared to show your valid ID to the bus operator upon request.
