Metro is working with local non-profit bike organizations to help make bicycling safer in Los Angeles County by conducting bicycle traffic skills classes countywide. These safety education classes are free to the public and are available May through September 2015. Each class participant will receive a bicycle helmet and bicycle lights for their own use, in addition to receiving training in bicycle riding and safety skills.
Classes are made possible by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Classes are available for both new and experienced cyclists interesting in increasing their bicycle traffic skills. The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and Bike San Gabriel Valley (BikeSGV) will conduct these two-, three- and four-hour weekend classes.
