The Proposition A and Proposition C sales tax measures were approved by voters in 1980 and 1990, respectively, for transportation purposes. The Proposition A and Proposition C sales taxes are two one-half of one percent tax on most retail sales in the County. Metro is responsible for administering the programs and establishing guidelines. Metro returns 25% and 20% of Proposition A and Proposition C, respectively, to its jurisdictions on a “per capita” basis in the County and allocates the funds as specified in the two ordinances for transportation purposes:
