On February 12, 2021, Metro released its recommendation for two private sector teams to conduct pre-development work to advance the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project. Two different fixed guideway technologies will be further developed as possible transit solutions for the corridor. Metro is recommending LA SkyRail Express for its proposed monorail concept and Sepulveda Transit Corridor Partners – Bechtel for its proposed heavy rail concept. More details can be found on Metro’s blog The Source and in the Board report , which will be received and filed by the Board in February. In March, Metro will ask its Board of Directors to approve two contracts.

The project has been identified as a good candidate for delivery through a public-private partnership (P3), which, if feasible, offers the potential for greater innovation, higher performance with reduced risk and cost, and potential schedule acceleration.
