On February 12, 2021, Metro released its recommendation for two private sector teams to conduct pre-development work to advance the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project. Two different fixed guideway technologies will be further developed as possible transit solutions for the corridor. Metro is recommending LA SkyRail Express for its proposed monorail concept and Sepulveda Transit Corridor Partners – Bechtel for its proposed heavy rail concept.

In March, the Metro Board of Directors will consider Metro staff’s recommendation to award contracts to the two private sector teams. More details about the recommendation can be found in the Board Report, here

The project has been identified as a good candidate for delivery through a public-private partnership (P3), which, if feasible, offers the potential for greater innovation, higher performance with reduced risk and cost, and potential schedule acceleration.

Next Steps

Next month, the range of alternatives for environmental review will be presented to the Metro Board.

Following the April Board Meeting, Metro will prepare for the environmental review process, which will begin with a scoping period and robust community outreach in Fall 2021.
