Utility Relocation on Wilshire Blvd and Gayley Ave

Summary

Metro contractors will relocate and upgrade the sanitary sewer lines and a storm drain on Wilshire Blvd. and Gayley Ave. in preparation for the Purple (D Line) Extension Section 3 project.  The work is scheduled to begin on April 9, 2021 and will take approximately 13 continuous weekends to complete: Friday at 11pm through Monday at 6am.  The work consists of saw cutting, demolition, and trenching of the existing roadway to relocate a storm drain and sanitary sewer lines. Construction activities will be done in stages and updates will be posted online each week.  Utility service and building access will be maintained.

Wilshire Blvd. (Stage 1- Red)

Date:   April 9 to 17

Work Hours: Friday at 11pm through Saturday at 6am

Traffic Control:

  • Lanes will be restricted for westbound and eastbound traffic on Wilshire Blvd. between Veteran Ave. and Glendon Ave.
  • No southbound and northbound access to the cross walks at the intersection of Gayle Ave. and Wilshire Blvd.
  • Intermittent traffic restrictions on Gayley Ave. between Lindbrook Dr. and Ashton Ave.
  • Street parking will be restricted in the work zone.
  • Driveway access will be maintained.

 

Northern Intersection of Wilshire Blvd. and Gayley Ave. (Stage 3- Green)

Date: April 11 to 19

Work Hours: Sunday at 11pm through Monday at 6am

Traffic Control:

  • Lanes will be restricted for westbound traffic on Wilshire Blvd. between Veteran Ave. and Glendon Ave.
  • Intermittent traffic restrictions on Gayley Ave. between Lindbrook Dr. and Ashton Ave.
  • Crosswalks will be closed on Wilshire Blvd between Midvale Ave. and Gayley Ave.
  • Street parking will be restricted in the work zone.
  • Driveway access will be maintained.

Noteworthy

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
  • Access to driveways, residences & businesses will be maintained at all times unless notified in advance.
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones.
  • Access for the Fire Department and emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone.
