Update: Shoring Installation and Geotechnical Excavation, Santa Fe Avenue

Summary

Update: As part of the construction activities at 590 S. Santa Fe Ave, Metro contractors will be extending the existing fence beyond the property line to the curb on Thursday, July 21st between 7am and 8pm. This does not require any lane or sidewalk closures.  

Day Work: Since Monday, July 11th and continuing daily, Mondays thru Saturdays, until October, Metro contractors will be performing soil shoring, soil excavation, backfilling, grading, and waste disposal activities for the proposed Metro Railway maintenance building at 590 S. Santa Fe Avenue.

This work complies with the legal requirements for the construction of a building pad and removal and transport of construction waste.

A majority of work will be completed within the fenced off property. A small portion of work will be performed along South Santa Fe, which requires future lane closures.

WHEN: Work began Monday, July 11th through October.

TIME: Mondays thru Fridays:7am to 8pm,

  • Saturdays:7am to 6pm.  
  • No work on Sundays.

WHERE: 590 S. Sante Fe Avenue

Abatement procedures are required and regulated by Cal OSHA and AQMD.

What to expect

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of the construction zone.
  • Access for emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Construction may result in changes to bus routes and stop locations. Metro will post signs at affected stops to advise riders of alternative boarding locations. Real-time information will be available at metro.net/service/advisories or 323.gometro.
