Utility Relocation on Wilshire Blvd. and Federal Ave.

Metro is coordinating with Southern California Edison to upgrade the electrical system along Wilshire Blvd. and Federal Ave. to provide the power necessary for construction and tunneling activities. This upgrade will also provide power for the operations of the future Westwood/VA Hospital Station. Work will continue on weekends starting Saturday, February 22 and will be done in stages for the next few weeks, 9pm to 6am on Wilshire Blvd. and 8am to 9am on Federal Ave.


Work on Wilshire Blvd. near Federal Ave.

Dates: February 22 through March 28

Work hours: 9pm to 6am

  • Eastbound lane reductions on Wilshire Blvd. between Barry Ave. and just east of Federal Ave.
  • Southbound lane reductions on San Vicente Blvd. between Goshen Ave. and Wilshire Blvd.
  • Northbound lane reduction on Federal Ave. near Wilshire Blvd.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Work on Federal Ave. near Wyoming Ave.

Dates: February 22 through March 15

Work hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 8am to 9pm

  • Intermittent lane reductions on Federal Ave. between Wyoming Ave. and Texas Ave.
  • Temporary street closure of Wyoming Ave.
  • Access will be maintained on Rochester Ave. and Colby Ave.
  • Temporary parking restrictions in the work areas.
  • Driveway access will be maintained.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

During construction, some Metro bus line could be affected and some bus stops might be relocated.

What to Expect

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
  • Access to driveways, homes & businesses will be maintained at all times unless notified in advance.
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones.
  • Access for the Fire Department and emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Temporary lane closures will be required; detours with signage will be implemented.
  • Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone.
  • Temporary bus stops with relocation signage will be implemented.
