Update: Lane Reductions on Santa Monica Blvd. for Construction of Bus Layover

Summary

From Tuesday, May 21 through Friday, July 19, the Purple Line Extension will continue bus layover work in Century City. A temporary bus layover is being constructed in the median on Santa Monica Blvd. between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East. This work requires intermittent lane reductions of one lane on eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Blvd.between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East during non-peak hours.

Left turn lanes on Santa Monica Blvd. will be reduced by one lane, but left turns will still be permitted. U-turns will be restricted on Century Park East. Additionally, Metro bus lines 4, 704, 16, & 316 will continue to be detoured until the completion of this work.

WHEN

  • Tuesday, May 21 through Friday, July 19, 2019
  • Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 3:30pm & 7pm – 6am

WHERE

  • Temporary bus layover will be constructed in the median on Santa Monica Blvd between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East (see map).

ACCESS

  • Intermittent lane reduction on eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Blvd.
  • Left turn lane reduction on Santa Monica Blvd.
  • U-turn restriction at Century Park East
  • Access to all driveways & entrances will be maintained.
  • Access for Emergency Vehicles & First Responders will be maintained.
  • Metro bus lines 4, 704, 16, & 316 will be detoured until completion of bus layover work. The active stops for these bus lines will be at Century Park West/Santa Monica Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd/Wilshire during this portion of construction.

ACCESS

  • Eastbound Santa Monica Blvd. will remain open, with intermittent lane reductions during off-peak hours, Monday – Friday.
  • Access to all driveways & entrances will be maintained.
  • Access for Emergency Vehicles & First Responders will be maintained.

Noteworthy

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
  • Access to driveways, residences & businesses will be maintained at all times unless notified in advance.
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones.
  • Access for the Fire Department and emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone.
