Traffic Signal Installation on Santa Monica Blvd. at Century Park East for Bus Layover


The Purple Line Extension Section 2 project is nearly completed with the bus layover work on the median of Santa Monica Blvd. between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East in Century City. The existing traffic signal at Santa Monica Blvd. and Century Park East will be replaced with a permanent traffic signal.

This work will begin Thursday, June 27, 2019 beginning at 7pm and will continue through 6am on Friday, June 28, 2019. This installation will require the traffic signals on Century Park East from Constellation Blvd. to Santa Monica Blvd. to be disabled, however, traffic control officers will be on-site to facilitate traffic flow through Century Park East. 



  • Thursday, June 27 beginning at 7pm through Friday, June 28, 2019 at 6am


  • The traffic signal will be installed at Santa Monica Blvd./Century Park East (see map)


  • Traffic signals will be disabled on Century Park East between Constellation Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd.
  • Traffic control officers will be available to manage traffic on Century Park East
  • Access to all driveways & entrances will be maintained.
  • Access for Emergency Vehicles & First Responders will be maintained.

  • Eastbound Santa Monica Blvd. will remain open, with intermittent lane reductions during off-peak hours, Monday – Friday.
  • Access to all driveways & entrances will be maintained.

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
  • Access to driveways, residences & businesses will be maintained at all times unless notified in advance.
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones.
  • Access for the Fire Department and emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone.
