Español | 한국어 )

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Metro is working to connect the Purple Line Extension to the current Purple Line terminus at Wilshire/Western station. During the construction activities, Wilshire/Western station will remain open for operation.

The Wilshire/Western connection started with sewer relocation in September 2017.

Ongoing activities to build the connection includes utility work, pile installation, jet grouting, decking, excavation and adding instrumentation between Wilshire Bl/Manhattan Pl and Wilshire Bl/Western Av.

To support pile installation, decking and excavation, a work zone with concrete barriers, fencing and sound blankets will be established on the north side of Wilshire Bl between Manhattan Pl and Western Av for approximately 1 year.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Wilshire Bl will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Western Av and St Andrews Pl
  • Left turns will be restricted on Wilshire Bl at Western Av
  • Extended sidewalk closures between Manhattan Pl and Western Av will be required
  • Western Av will remain open to through traffic

WEEKDAY WORK HOURS

  • 6am - 10pm for major construction activities

LOOKING FORWARD

Decking is a construction process that excavates the street and sidewalks, and replaces them with temporary concrete deck panels. This will allow traffic to continue to flow, while maintaining access to sidewalks and driveways as construction continues underground.

Wilshire/Western Decking stats:

  • 130 ft long
  • 100 ft wide
  • 60 ft deep
