Drilling for Cross Passage Construction on Wilshire Blvd.

As part of the Federal government’s Coronavirus Guidance for America, transportation infrastructure is considered an “Essential Critical Infrastructure.” Additionally, transit capital projects are not subject to the State of California’s Stay at Home order, therefore Metro construction projects continue to progress.

Summary

Beginning Monday, August 17, and continuing through Friday, August 28, Wilshire Blvd. between Burnside Ave. and Spaulding Ave. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. This traffic control supports construction of cross passages between the twin tunnel underneath Wilshire Blvd.

Essentials

When

  • August 17 through August 28, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
  • Noisier work activities will be limited to daytime hours, approximately 7am to 4pm

Where

  • Wilshire Blvd., between Burnside Ave. and Spaulding Ave.

Traffic Control

  • Every 1 – 3 days the work zone and traffic control will migrate west, towards Spaulding Ave. Daily traffic control will be:
  • Location 1: Monday, August 17 at 6am, to Thursday, August 20 at 6am. Wilshire Blvd. reduced to a single lane in each direction between Hauser Blvd. and Masselin Ave. Left turns from Wilshire to Masselin Ave. and Hauser will be restricted.
  • Location 2: Thursday, August 20 at 6am, to Friday, August 21 at 6am. Wilshire Blvd. reduced to a single lane in each direction between Hauser Blvd. and Courtyard Pl. Left turns from Wilshire Blvd. to Courtyard Pl., Masselin Ave., and Hauser Blvd. will be restricted.
  • Location 3: Friday, August 21 at 6am, to Monday, August 24 at 6am. Wilshire Blvd. reduced to a single lane between Masselin Ave. and Courtyard Pl. Left turns from Wilshire to Courtyard Pl. and Masselin Ave. will be restricted.
  • Location 4: Monday, August 24 at 6am, to Tuesday, August 25 at 6am. Wilshire Blvd. reduced to a single lane between Masselin Ave. and Stanley Ave. Left turns from Wilshire Blvd. to Stanley Ave., Curson Ave., Courtyard Pl. and Masselin Ave. will be restricted.
  • Location 5: Tuesday, August 25 at 6am, to Friday, August 28 at 6am. Wilshire Blvd. reduced to a single lane between Curson Ave. and Stanley Ave. Left turns from Wilshire to Stanley Ave. and Curson Ave. will be restricted.

Noteworthy

  • Construction within project staging yards is 24-hours/day. 
  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of the construction zone.
