Station Excavation at 1st/Central station site and 1st St portal weekend directional closures

Summary

Regional Connector Constructors (RCC) will be performing excavation and concrete placement activities at the 1st and Central site and 1st St between Alameda St. and Vignes St (1st St Portal). Pile and decking activities will also take place at the 1st St Portal.

Work is anticipated to begin Monday, February 26, 2018 and will continue through August 2018.

Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm with possible night work hours. A separate notice will be issued if need be.

This work will be followed by pile and deck installation on westbound 1st St between Vignes St and Alameda St requiring approximately four weekend directional closure starting as early as the first weekend in April. Directional weekend closures to begin at 9 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday.

Essentials

Activities include excavation of the station, hauling out spoils, and installation of support excavation bracing.

Sound mitigations will be in place during work hours. Louder activities will be done during daytime hours. Pedestrian, business, and local access will be maintained.

What to Expect

Haul Trucks Route
Haul trucks will enter the 1st and Central yard traveling southbound on Alameda St and exit northbound on Central Av. Trucks will turn right on eastbound 1st St going north on Alameda or will continue eastbound on 1st St towards Mission Rd to the 101 freeway.

Directional Weekend Closures Detour
Eastbound 1st St. traffic will be detoured right on Vignes, left on Temple, left Judge John Aiso, back to 1st St.
