Tieback Removal at 3rd St and Flower St

Friday, December 2: This activity has been extended to last through February 17, 2017.

Thursday, August 11: This activity has been rescheduled to begin as early as Saturday, August 20.

Summary

Regional Connector Constructors (RCC) will begin the construction of the tieback removal shaft at 3rd and Flower St.

Traffic reconfiguration will take place one day only on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tie back removal work is anticipated to begin on Monday, August 8 and continue for six months. Anticipated work hours:

  • Monday–Friday: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lane reductions will occur on westbound 3rd St and northbound Flower St.

Essentials

The shaft construction is required to remove existing tiebacks within the tunnel alignment.

Activities include: hanging existing underground utilities, shaft excavation, removal of existing tiebacks and backfilling.

What to Expect

The southerly crosswalk at 3rd and Flower St intersection will be closed during the four months of work. Sidewalk access will be maintained at all times.

Northbound Flower St will be reduced to one left turn pocket, onto 3rd St. The 3rd St left turn pocket will be combined with the adjacent thru lane. Access to driveways will be maintained at all times.
