Rail Track Replacement at Flower St and Washington Bl

Summary 

As part of work on Metro’s New Blue Improvements Project, Metro’s contractor, RailWorks, will replace tracks at the junction that connects the Metro Expo Line to the Blue Line at Flower St and Washington Bl.

Due to this work, the contractor will be closing: 

  • The left turn lane from Flower St onto Washington Bl
  • The #2 lane on Washington Bl between Flower St and Grand Bl

This activity is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, July 23rd through Friday, August 30th, 2019, Monday through Friday, from 6am to 7pm.

Essentials

There will be a left turn lane closure from Flower St onto Washington Bl and a closure of the #2 lane on Washington Bl from Flower St to Grand Bl.

Access will be maintained for those traveling southbound along Flower St, however they will not be able to make left turns on to Washington Bl. Those traveling east or west on Washington Bl will not be impacted.

Detour signage will be posted along Flower St. 

What to Expect 

Construction activities will involve the use of heavy equipment and small tools, in addition to placement of large panels, and will have the potential to create noise.

Noise monitors will be used onsite while construction activities are in progress. 

Construction is a dynamic process and information is subject to change. Work activity is subject to weather conditions.
