As part of work on Metro’s New Blue Improvements Project, Metro’s contractor, Railworks, will distribute rail onto the rail train and transport to a staging area within the Metro Blue Line right-of-way. Rail will then be unloaded from the rail train and stored along the right-of-way. Blue Line rail service will be suspended between Willow Station and Downtown Long Beach Station and bus shuttles will replace rail service.
This work will take place at the following locations:
- Location #1 - From Willow Station to Long Beach Bl
- Location #2 - On center median alongside fence or left on Rail Train on Long Beach Bl prior to entering the loop (between Anaheim Bl and 10th St)
- Location #3 – Pacific Av between 3rd and 4th St
Rail will be loaded onto the rail train, then transported to a staging area within the Metro Blue Line right-of-way and stored.
What to Expect
Blue Line rail service will be suspended between Willow Station and Downtown Long Beach Station and bus shuttles will replace rail service from 9pm to 5am, on Friday night, January 18, and Saturday night, January 19. Bus Shuttles will go to each of the stations that are out of service from Willow St to Downtown Long Beach.
From 6:30am-5pm, Mon-Sat, all city streets intersecting Metro Blue Line right-of-way from Willow St heading south through the Long Beach Loop may also be affected for brief intervals.
