As part of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, Metro’s contractor, Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) will begin preparing for light rail guideway construction located at the center of the street in Park Mesa. Similar to other activities, the guideway work will be completed in segments and phases.
The first segment will require the removal of the medians islands between 46th St and Slauson Ave beginning on February 3, 2017.
Once all the median islands are permanently removed from the frontage roads, WSCC will place cement barriers along the center of the street, re-adjust traffic signals and striping. This will become the new street configuration for approximately two years. It will allow for a safe construction zone for the light rail guideway work. The new configuration will maintain two lanes in each direction along Crenshaw Bl, left turn pockets and parking. Temporary free parking will be available to the public during this time at the following locations:
- Northwest corner of Crenshaw Bl and 48th St
- Southeast corner of Crenshaw Bl and 50th St
- Southeast corner of Crenshaw Bl and 52nd St
- Southwest corner of Crenshaw Bl and 63rd St
A construction notice with more details regarding the construction dates, times
and implementation will be distributed prior to the commencement of the work.
