Slot Trenching

Summary

As part of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, Metro’s contractor, Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC), will be working on slot trenching field investigations. Slot trenching is the process of digging narrow trenches and it is done for the future installment of pipes, cables or other in-ground utilities. In order to facilitate the slot trenching, there will be work done in the center of Crenshaw Bl at 50th St. 


The following detour will be implemented for westbound traffic:

-   North on Crenshaw Bl
-   West on 48th St

-   South on Victoria Av

-   East Westmount Av

-   South on Crenshaw Bl 
 

Following the completion of this work, WSCC will continue this activity at the following intersections:

-   Crenshaw Bl and 52nd St
-   Crenshaw Bl and 54th St

WHAT: Slot trenching

WHEN: August 29, 2016, Monday through Friday from7am to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 5pm, weather permitting. 

WHERE: Crenshaw Bl and 50th St 

DURATION: Three weeks  

What to Expect

  • Access through Crenshaw Bl for both northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained. 
  • Northbound traffic on Crenshaw Bl will continue to be able to make a right turn onto eastbound 50th St.
  • No left turn onto Crenshaw Bl from westbound 50th St.
  • Westbound traffic on 50th St will need to make a right turn on Crenshaw Bl.
