Construction Notice - September 8


The contractor will conduct preparation work activities that will require extended closures of Mulholland Drive and I-405 freeway during the weekends leading up to the demolition of the north half of the Mulholland Bridge.  These work activities will include adjusting the roadway alignment and elevation and removing falsework.  Extended closures will begin on the weekend of Sept. 8 -9, 2012, and continue until the bridge demolition.  See schedule below for detailed information pertaining to each closure.

What: Mulholland Bridge demolition preparation work activities

When: Starting Sept. 8 - 9, 2012, and continuing on the following weekends until bridge demolition. 

Where: Mulholland Bridge and the I-405 Freeway



Southbound directional  full freeway closure between 101freeway to the Getty Center Dr. ramps (ramps may close as early as 7:00 pm)

Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 PM to
Sunday, Sept. 9, at 9 AM

Northbound directional  full freeway closure between the Getty Center Dr. ramps to the Ventura off-ramp(ramps may close as early as 7:00 pm)

Saturday, Sept. 15, at 11 PM to
Sunday, Sept. 16, at 9 AM

Mulholland Bridge Closure

Friday, Sept. 14, at 10 PM to
Sunday, Sept. 16, at 8 AM

Mulholland Drive, from the west side of the bridge to Casiano Road

Friday, Sept. 21, at 10 PM to
Monday, Sept. 24, at 6 AM

What to expect:

  • Sepulveda Blvd. will remain open and used as a detour during the full directional freeway closures
  • Nightly closures of Mulholland Dr, from the west side of the bridge to Casiano Road, will continue until the bridge demolition activity.  
  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
  • Pedestrians will be rerouted to a safe area outside of the construction zone.
