Alameda Tunnel Box Construction

Summary

Regional Connector Constructors (RCC) will implement an extended closure of Temple St between Alameda St and Garey St for the construction of the Alameda Tunnel Box. The 24/7 closure is anticipated to begin on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 7pm and continue for approximately six months. Additional work may be scheduled at a later date. A supplemental notice will be issued once work is scheduled.

This work is part of the L (Gold) Line service interruption, it will bring the L (Gold) Line tracks underground, remove tracks, connect L Line to Regional Connector. This milestone will get us closer to the opening date. 

Essentials

Activities include saw cutting, excavation, pile installation, utility relocation, tunnel box construction, hauling of materials, backfill, and concrete placement. Access to adjacent businesses will be maintained at all times from Garey St. Pedestrian crosswalks at Temple and Alameda may be restricted intermittently during work hours. Pedestrians will be detour outside the work zone.

 What to Expect

A full closure of Temple St at Alameda St will be in place. Local access will be maintained.

 Detours:

Temple St Detour

  • Eastbound (EB): Left on Alameda St, right on Commercial St, right on Garey, back to Temple St.
  • WB: Left on Vignes St, right on 1st St, right on Judge John Aiso St, back to Temple St.

 Alameda St Detour

Thru traffic maintained. A NB Alameda St lane reduction is in place from 2nd St to Commercial St.
