The North SFV BRT Planning and Environmental Study is evaluating potential BRT alignments and station locations through an Alternatives Analysis to identify a proposed project for the North SFV corridor. Metro anticipates an 18- to 20-mile route will be selected for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) improvements in the Northern San Fernando Valley. Once the project is defined, the proposed project will advance to the environmental phase of the study, pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines. The results of the analysis will be shared in a Draft and Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The study will also identify potential opportunities to integrate Transit Oriented Communities (TOC), urban design, green/sustainable infrastructure, First/Last Mile planning and active transportation along the corridor.
The study area includes the communities of Chatsworth, Northridge, North Hills, Panorama City, Sun Valley, Pacoima, Sylmar, North Hollywood and the City of San Fernando, with potential connections to Metrolink at the Chatsworth and Sylmar/San Fernando Stations, to Metro Orange/Red Lines at North Hollywood Station, to the East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor Project on Van Nuys Bl, and to other regional transit lines.
