Upgrades from the New Blue Improvements Project

As the New Blue Improvements Project is now complete, we are excited to announce that the A Line (Blue) is now open from 7 th St/Metro Center to Downtown Long Beach.

Metro would like to thank you for your patience during the service interruption to Metro’s oldest light rail line. Since late January, crews have worked diligently to upgrade the newly-minted A Line to the modern specifications of our younger rail lines. This $350 million investment means the A Line will be more reliable, have enhanced safer systems, and provide an improved customer experience for all.

Here are the improvements that have been made on the A Line (Blue):

Increased Reliability

  • Four new crossover tracks/switches to reduce service interruptions
