Location: Gateway Cities
Phase: Early Planning
Type: Housing and Jobs
Metro’s plan includes creating access to opportunity by partnering to build near Indiana Station on the L Line (Gold). This joint development project with A Community of Friends is planned to have 49 apartments, providing supportive and affordable housing to veterans and their families, as well as retail space.
The Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council and the Metro-established Boyle Heights Design Review Advisory Committee approved this project in Summer 2015. However, the project has been on hold since March 2016, pending the outcome of various legal challenges brought by an adjacent property owner against the City of Los Angeles. The latest challenge, a lawsuit, was resolved in the developer’s favor in May 2019, but is pending a possible appeal.
