Next Steps

Under the initial design, Metro finalized the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) in March 2017. However, through further design refinement, the project was reconfigured to accommodate more storage tracks and relocate the turnback facility. To further explain these project changes, Metro has decided to move forward with an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project.

Metro started the environmental review process by releasing an initial Notice of Preparation (NOP) on October 18, 2017. Two public scoping meetings were held in late October/early November 2017 to introduce the project and gather community input. Metro accepted public comments on the NOP from October 18 to November 17, 2017.

On January 3, 2018, Metro released a revised NOP to invite public comments on the acquisition and reuse of an additional property as part of the project. Metro accepted public comments on the revised NOP from January 3 - February 2, 2018.

Metro is currently reviewing public comments received on the original and revised NOPs and is conducting technical studies for the project. The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the project is anticipated to be released in Spring 2018.
