State of Good Repair

Capital Improvement Projects - State of Good Repair

Under the State of Good Repair initiative, Metro employs a variety of projects to keep existing and future transit assets in good working order, while substantially upgrading the overall transit system.

North Hollywood Underpass Project

Open since Summer, 2016, it's Metro’s latest effort to build safer pedestrian connections on its system.  The new tunnel will eliminate the mad dash across busy Lankershim Boulevard to catch a bus or train.  Additionally, the tunnel is expected to save riders four to five minutes when walking from an Orange Line bus to the Red Line platform — a substantial savings that will help Metro patrons make their bus and rail connections.

Universal Pedestrian Bridge Project

Located at the intersection of Lankershim Blvd & Universal Hollywood Drive, the Universal Pedestrian Bridge offers safe and convenient pedestrian access in the area surrounding Metro Rail’s Red Line Station and the Universal Studios Shuttle Stop. The bridge opened for public use on April 7, 2016.

Pershing Square Escalator Replacement Project

Construction involves the replacement of five escalators within the three portals at Pershing Square Station.  Additionally, crews will install and integrate new electrical and communication systems between the new escalators, video surveillance system, existing auxiliary power rooms, and train control and communication rooms.

Gold Line South Pasadena Station ADA Ramp Improvements

Construction of a new ADA ramp at the Gold Line South Pasadena Station work Includes installation of a new Passenger Assistance Telephone (PTEL).

Red Line Universal City Station Knock-Out-Panel (KOP) Closure Wall Installation

Construct the closure of the wall and existing knock-out-panel at the station mezzanine level. The closure will be finished with ceramic tile consistent with the station design and theme.
