Project Background

2012: Metro completed the Antelope Valley Line Infrastructure Strategic Plan to determine what improvements could be made to the existing line to significantly reduce the travel time between Lancaster/Palmdale and Los Angeles, as well as to enhance safety.

2017-2019: Metro conducted the Antelope Valley Line Feasibility Study which examined increasing the frequency of Metrolink service and developed a phased and prioritized approach for capital improvements based on benefits, costs and impacts.

Fall 2020: Metro released a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR)  for the proposed project . Metro accepted public comments on the scope of the DEIR from Thursday, October 1, 2020 through Monday, November 16, 2020. During the months of October and November, three virtual scoping meetings were held to accept oral and written comments on t he scope of the Draft EIR, including the goals and objectives, project area, project description, and the environmental impacts.

Current Status

Metro is conducting technical studies in preparation for the release of the DEIR in Summer 2021.
