New Community Update Meetings For Regional Connector Project Scheduled June 21-30

Monday June 13, 2011

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is currently completing the Final Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report and Preliminary Engineering for the Regional Connector Transit Corridor project, and will host three community update meetings June 21 through June 30, 2011.

The meetings will present the designated Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA), and project refinements accomplished since October 2010. Content presented at these meetings will be identical, so those attending a session should seek a time and location most convenient for them.

Meetings are scheduled for the following dates:

  • Tuesday, June 21, 2011; 11:30 a.m. - 1pm, Colburn School of Music, Olive Hall, 200 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles.
  • Wednesday, June 29, 2011; 6:30 - 8 p.m., Japanese American National Museum, 369 E First St, Los Angeles. (This meeting will also be broadcast live through Ustream).
  • Thursday, June 30, 2011; 6:30 - 8 p.m., Los Angeles Times, Community Room, 145 S Spring St, Los Angeles.

Special accommodations are available to the public for Metro-sponsored meetings. All requests for reasonable accommodations must be made at least three working days (72 hours) in advance of the scheduled meeting date. Please telephone the project information line at 213.922.7277 or call the California Relay Service at 711. Each meeting will have Japanese, Korean, and Spanish interpreters and materials.

The Regional Connector project proposes building a nearly two-mile transit line that would connect the existing Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension in the vicinity of the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station with the 7th Street/Metro Center Station, terminus for the Metro Blue Line and future Expo Line.
