LOS ANGELES (June 23, 2014) Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project Construction Alert Plan ahead, allow extra travel time, or steer clear of airport-area traffic the weekend of July 25-28, 2014. These are the messages that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), and Caltrans are advising the public in advance of a major bridge demolition that will result in 57-hour street closure of a portion of Century Boulevard, a major artery leading into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), that weekend.
Metro Reconfigures Traffic on Crenshaw Boulevard for Underground Station Construction
LOS ANGELES (April 29, 2014) Major construction will begin Friday, May 2 on Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project starting with underground stations on Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards with a full street closure to implement a new traffic configuration.
Ground is Broken for 8.5-Mile Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project
LOS ANGELES (Jan 14, 2014) Construction began Tuesday morning on the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, an 8.5-mile, $2.058-billion light-rail line that will run between the Metro Expo and Green lines and is expected to open in 2019. The project will also bring Metro Rail closer to Los Angeles International Airport.
FTA issues Milestone Approval for Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Project
LOS ANGELES (Jan 4, 2012): The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on Dec. 30 issued a Record of Decision (ROD) for the Crenshaw/LAX light rail project based on Metro's Final Environmental Impact Statement/Report (EIS/EIR) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
