L.A. Metro and City of Los Angeles Launch Electric Metro Bikes in Central Los Angeles as part of Metro’s Bike Share Program

In the latest high-tech expansion of the countywide Bike Share Program, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) have announced that new, electric pedal-assist Metro Bikes will be available at Classic Metro Bike Share stations throughout the Central Los Angeles area.

New Blue Improvements to Southern Section Completed; Northern Section of Blue Line to Close for Similar Improvements Effective Saturday, June 1

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) today announced that the southern section of the Blue Line between Compton and Downtown Long Beach stations will reopen on Saturday, June 1, following the successful completion of the New Blue upgrades. On that same day, rail service will be suspended and replaced by bus shuttles on the northern section of the Blue Line between Compton and 7th/Metro stations.

Metro Board Adopts FY 2020 Budget

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors approved a $7.2-billion budget for fiscal year 2020 (FY20) following a recent public hearing and extensive public outreach and input. The adopted budget represents an 8.9 percent increase from the FY19 budget.

Metro Board Approves Contract Extension for Ongoing Homeless Outreach Services on the Metro System

In efforts to help address L.A. County’s homeless crisis and the long-term challenges it has placed on its transit system, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors today approved a contract extension with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services to continue providing homeless outreach services on buses and trains for an additional two years.
