Metro Board Awards Contract to Tutor Perini/O & G to Build Section Two of Metro Purple Line Extension Project

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors today awarded a $1.37-billion contract to the joint venture team of Tutor Perini/O & G to build the second section of the Metro Purple Line Extension Project to Century City. The board also established a budget of $2.4 billion for the project.

Metro Will Accept Online Applications for Measure M Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will begin accepting online applications today for the Measure M Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee that will ensure an enhanced level of accountability for expenditures of sales tax revenues generated by the ballot measure. The application period will extend from Jan. 25 to March 28 on Metro’s website, metro.net.

Thousands Take Metro to Saturday Women’s March in Downtown Los Angeles

As thousands converged on downtown Los Angeles for the Saturday Women’s March, Metro Rail carried a total of 592,000 boarding passengers – 360,000 more riders than on a typical Saturday. Los Angeles Police Department estimates placed the crowd at 100,000 and event organizers pegged that number at more than 750,000.

Expo Line’s Culver City Station Parking Lot to Close on February 14 for Construction of Transit Oriented Development

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Expo Line’s Culver City Station parking lot will close on Tuesday, February 14, for construction of a new residential and commercial development named Ivy Station. That project will include 300 parking spaces for Metro patrons with a completion date forecast for 2019.
