Go Metro to the American Heroes Air Show Saturday, June 21

The Hansen Dam Sports Complex will be hosting the American Heroes Air Show on Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free helicopter aviation event will feature rotary-wing helicopters from various local, county, state, private media and federal agencies. In addition, there will be information regarding careers in public law enforcement and educational opportunities as well as an appearance by Chuck Aaron and the Red Bull flight team.  Show your valid TAP card, Metro employee ID, or LA County employee ID at the STAR Helicopters booth and save 5 percent on helicopter rides.

2014 Diamond Awards Recognize Outstanding Efforts of Traffic-Busting Commuter Programs Throughout the Region

The Diamond Awards has announced its annual winners list of Southland companies and individuals who go to extra mile to promote commute alternatives to bust traffic tie-ups. The awards, now in their 16th year, are co-sponsored by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) and recognize the achievements of corporate rideshare programs in the region and their contribution toward decreasing gasoline consumption, air pollution and commuter costs as well as improving mobility. The awards ceremony was held on May 29 at Los Angeles Union Station.

Southbound 405 Freeway Closures Between Getty Center Drive and Wilshire Boulevard Planned Nights of May 30-June 2

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is scheduled to conduct a series of nighttime freeway closures on the southbound I-405 between Getty Center Drive and Wilshire Boulevard the nights of Friday, May 30 through Monday morning, June 2 to facilitate permanent striping and paving of general purpose lanes.  Closure information is as follows:

Metro Rerouting Traffic on Crenshaw, Exposition Boulevards for Underground Station Construction

Construction will begin on Friday, May 30, on the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project at Crenshaw and Exposition boulevards with a 15-hour full street closure to implement a new traffic configuration. This area will be the stage for the future underground Crenshaw/Expo Station.

Four Consecutive Night Full Street Closures on Crenshaw Boulevard to Remove Abandoned Natural Gas Line

In order to prepare for the removal of an abandoned natural gas line under Crenshaw Boulevard between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Stocker Street, Metro and Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors will have a full street closure for the next four consecutive nights, beginning tonight Tuesday, May 27.

Southbound 405 Freeway Closure Between Getty Center Drive and Wilshire Boulevard Planned Night of May 28

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is scheduled to conduct a nighttime freeway closure on the southbound I-405 between Getty Center Drive and Wilshire Boulevard the night of May 28, 2014 to facilitate permanent striping of general purpose lanes and to grind and overlay new asphalt from the Sepulveda undercrossing near the Getty ramps to the Wilshire Boulevard off-ramp.  Closure information is as follows:

Paving the Road to a Better 405

Just in time for the busy Memorial Day travel weekend, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and contractor Kieiwit Infrastructure West today officially opened the new 10-mile northbound carpool lane between the I-10 and U.S. 101, adding needed capacity to one of the nation's busiest freeways and closing the last remaining gap in the entire I-405 carpool lane network.

Metro Board Approves Fiscal Year 2015 Budget

The Board of Directors of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) today approved a balanced $5.508 billion Fiscal Year 2015 (FY15) budget, set to begin July 1, 2014. The budget includes continued commitment to the largest highway and rail building program in America, bus headway improvements and $283.4 million in maintenance expenditures to keep the system in top form.

L.A. Metro Receives Agreements for Nearly $2 Billion in Federal Grants and Low-Interest Loans for Purple Line Extension Project

Marking an historic vote of confidence in Metro Rail subway construction in Los Angeles, the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) today joined federal, state and local elected officials to announce the receipt of a $1.25 billion Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) from the Federal Transit Administration to help pay for the first nearly four-mile, $2.821 billion segment of the long-awaited Metro Purple Line Extension Project toward West Los Angeles.

Northbound 405 Full Freeway Closure Overnight Next Monday Through Thursday

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is planning to conduct overnight closure of the northbound I-405 freeway between Getty Center Drive and Greenleaf Street in the overnight hours Monday night, May 12 to Tuesday morning, May 13; Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, May 14; Wednesday night to Thursday morning, May 15 and Thursday night through Friday morning, May 16. The closure will facilitate permanent striping of general purpose lanes and electrical, drainage, concrete barrier and k-rail removal work.

Northbound 405 Weekend Full Freeway Closure Modified for Saturday Night

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is planning to conduct overnight closure of the northbound I-405 freeway between Moraga Drive and Greenleaf Street in the overnight hours tonight, May 7 through Saturday morning, May 10 and Sunday night, May 11 through Monday morning, May 12. However, the closure will be lengthened on Saturday night, May 10 through Sunday morning, May 11 to include the area between Wilshire Boulevard to Greenleaf Street. The closure will facilitate permanent striping of general purpose lanes and electrical, drainage, concrete barrier and k-rail removal work.

DWP Will Implement 24-hour Closure of Crenshaw Boulevard this Weekend

In order to continue advanced utility relocation for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will implement a 24-hour southbound lane closure on Crenshaw Boulevard between Exposition Boulevard and Rodeo Road to relocate an existing water line.

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is planning to conduct overnight closure of Wilshire Boulevard from Sepulveda Boulevard to Bonsall Avenue Thursday, May 8 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, May 9 and Friday night from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday May 10. The closure will facilitate girder painting at the southbound off-ramp to eastbound Wilshire Boulevard
