Northbound I-405 Freeway Closure Between Getty Center Drive and Greenleaf Planned for Two Consecutive Nights, Jan. 30 and 31

The northbound I-405 will be fully closed from Getty Center Drive to Greenleaf Street on-ramp on the nights of Thursday, Jan. 30 and Friday, Jan. 31.  The closure will accommodate shifting k-rail from the outside lanes to the inside lanes and shifting traffic to the east. A restriping of the freeway lanes near the Skirball ramps will also take place.

Dial 511 for Traffic Updates During 80-hour ‘Jamzilla’ I-405 Road Closures, Feb. 14-18

Southern California 511 - the free traveler information service that provides traffic updates via phone or web - has launched a new feature to keep Southern California drivers up to date during the planned 80-hour "Jamzilla" paving operation scheduled for Presidents' Day Weekend, Feb. 14-18 in the Sepulveda Pass. "Jamzilla" refers to the complex construction operation that will require daytime lane reductions and full night-time closures of the northbound I-405 between the Getty Center and Ventura Freeway ramps. Lane reductions on the southbound I-405 may also occur so drivers are being advised to eliminate unnecessary vehicle trips, avoid the area and/or divert to other freeways to avoid major traffic delays.

Metro is hosting a series of free workshops to inform artists about a wide variety of upcoming opportunities and how to apply for them. The informational workshops are for artists only and will be held in February and March at locations throughout LA County. Each workshop will cover the same information. Complex Paving Operation Required for “Jamzilla” 80-Hour Lane Closures in Sepulveda Pass Presidents’ Day Weekend

The planned 80-hour "Jamzilla" paving operation now scheduled for Presidents' Day Weekend, February 14-18 is more complex, requires new construction and is more time-consuming than the epic "Carmageddon" bridge demolitions of 2011 and 2012.

Northbound I-405 Freeway Closure Between Moraga Drive and Ventura Boulevard Planned for Three Consecutive Nights, Jan. 27, 28 and 29

The northbound I-405 will be fully closed from Moraga Drive to Ventura Boulevard on the nights of Monday, January 27, Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from midnight to 5am. The closure will accommodate shifting k-rail from the outside lanes to the inside lanes and shifting traffic to the east. A full restriping of the freeway in this area will take place.

Public Hearing on Proposed Metro Fare Restructuring Plan Scheduled for March 29

In an effort to be more customer friendly while addressing a quickly growing operating deficit the Metro Board of Directors today voted to set a public hearing on proposed fare restructuring for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at Metro headquarters, One Gateway Plaza in downtown Los Angeles.

Southbound I-405 Closure Between US 101 and Getty Center Dr. Planned Saturday Night, Jan. 18

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor will be conducting a full southbound I-405 closure from US 101 to the southbound Getty Center Dr on-ramp on the night of Saturday, January 18 through the morning of Sunday, January 19, 2014, from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. in order to shift outside southbound lanes for median work.

Metro’s El Monte Station Gets New Artwork, Originals on Display at Rio Hondo College in February

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has commissioned four talented Los Angeles based artists - Martin Durazo, Phung Huynh, Vincent Ramos and Eloy Torrez - for artworks that will enhance the transit experience at El Monte Station, the largest bus facility west of Chicago that sees up to 40,000 daily riders. Each artist has created four artworks that will be installed at the station January 2014.

L.A. METRO TO HOLD ADVISORY GROUP MEETING FOR PURPLE LINE SUBWAY EXTENSION PROJECT JANUARY 29, 2014

Full Directional I-405 Closures in the Sepulveda Pass Planned Thursday Night, Jan. 16 to Pour Skirball Bridge Deck

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor will be conducting a full closure of both directions of the I-405 in the Sepulveda Pass at different times the night of Thursday, January 16 in order to pour the concrete deck for the Skirball Bridge.

And so it begins: ground is broken for 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX Line

Construction began Tuesday morning on the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, an 8.5-mile, $2.058-billion light-rail line that will run between the Metro Expo and Green lines and is expected to open in 2019. The project will also bring Metro Rail closer to Los Angeles International Airport.

Metro’s After Work Spring Art Tours Start Thursday, Feb. 6, Lead to DTLA Dining

Metro's free spring art tours, Metro Art Moves, will depart Union Station at 5:30 p.m. on the first Thursdays of February, March and April 2014. The first tour will take place Thursday, February 6. Focused on three downtown stations, the guided, artist-led tours provide unique experiences with Metro's diverse art collection.

Metro Presents: Free Salsa Performance by LA Picante at Union Station

Metro Presents will bring salsa band LA Picante to historic Union Station on Friday, January 31. The band will play from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as part of Metro's ongoing program of creative arts and cultural events at the iconic station. The performance will take place inside the Fred Harvey Room, a space that is usually closed to the public.

Metro Blue Line undergoes a $1.2 Billion Overhaul

The Metro Blue Line, Los Angeles County's oldest light rail line and one of the busiest light rail lines in the United States, is undergoing a $1.2 billion overhaul replacing power stations, overhead power lines, tracks, rail cars and improvements to station platforms in a multiyear investment to bolster reliability, comfort and safety.
