First Massive Flyover Ramp Opens at Wilshire Interchange - I-405 Project Milestone

Making good on yet another completion milestone for the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project, The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and contractor Kiewit Infrastructure West have opened a brand new, longer and safer "flyover" ramp at the Wilshire/I-405 interchange in Westwood.

Fatal Accidents Plumment on Metro Blue Line, but Suicide Rate Rising

September is Suicide Prevention Month

Elected officials, Metro executives, a Sheriff commander and suicide prevention experts today joined a former Metro train operator in appealing to the public to help stop the rash of suicides on the Metro Blue Line.

Go Metro to Rediscover the “Heart of L.A.” at CicLAvia Sunday, Oct. 6

L.A.'s eighth CicLAvia, designed to give pedestrians, bicyclists, skateboarders, and others rare access to miles of car-free city streets, will return Sunday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free, public event promises to be a day of recreation, exploration, and community.

Metro Begins Restoration of the Historic Southern Pacific Lankershim/North Hollywood Train Depot

Metro announced today that major restoration work on the Historic Southern Pacific Lankershim/North Hollywood train depot is set to begin as construction crews work to rehab the facility over the coming year.

Sepulveda Boulevard to be Closed from Montana Avenue to Church Lane Friday Night, Sept. 20, to Monday, Sept. 23

Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Montana Avenue and Church Lane, starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday. Sept. 23. The closure is required so that heavy equipment can be staged to begin installation of girders for the northbound Sunset off-ramp, which is now under construction.

Northbound I-405 Freeway Closure Between Getty and Greenleaf Planned Nights of September 14, 15, 2013

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements contractor will be shifting K-rail, restriping six lanes of traffic and setting K-rail in the freeway median on the nights of Saturday, September 14, 2013, and Sunday September 15.  This work will require a full closure of all northbound lanes on the I-405 from the northbound Getty Center Drive off-ramp to the Greenleaf St on-ramp.

Southbound I-405 Freeway Closure Between Santa Monica Boulevard and National Boulevard Planned Friday Night, September 6

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements contractor will be adjusting K-rail and shifting freeway lanes to the west Friday night, September 6. This will require a full southbound directional freeway closure from Santa Monica Boulevard to National Boulevard from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

Metro to Offer Information on Eastside Access Project Saturday, September 7, at ELA Civic Center

Information about a project that will make it easier to access Metro Gold Line rail stations in East Los Angeles will be available at a Metro booth at the East Los Angeles Civic Center Library, 4837 Third Street, East Los Angeles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 7. Metro staff also will be on hand.

Coliseum Traffic Alert for Saturday, September 7

To better clear the streets of the Coliseum area following the USC home football game Saturday, September 7, three street segments are being closed to through traffic and a portion of the I-110 ExpressLanes is being opened to all motorists.

Metro and USC Encourage Football Fans to Take Expo Line to the Coliseum

With an anticipated 90,000 football fans expected to attend USC's first home game of the 2013 season on Saturday, September 7, officials of the university and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) today joined with the Spirit of Troy band to urge fans to ride Metro's Expo Line to all home games.

During California Rail Safety Month in September, Metro Is Reminding the Public to Observe the Three Es and Stay Alert Around the Trains

September is Rail Safety Month in California, making it the perfect time to remind everyone to practice safe behavior near Metro trains. In 2009, the California Legislature designated September Rail Safety Month to encourage government, industry and local citizens to improve rail crossing safety and support for rail safety.
