Metro Board Approves $1.27 Billion Contract with Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors to Build the Crenshaw/LAX Light-Rail Project

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors today approved a $1.272 billion contract to Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors to build the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project, an 8.5-mile light-rail line that will run between the Expo Line on Exposition Boulevard and the Metro Green Line. The design/build contract will include both the Leimert Park and Hindry Stations.

L.A. Metro to Purchase its First Electric Buses for Los Angeles County Transit Riders

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors today approved a contract with BYD Motors for the manufacture and delivery of up to 25 new all-electric buses as part of a $30 million clean air bus technology pilot project.

Metro Introduces Smartphone Security App to Report Transit-Related Crimes

In a new initiative to improve safety and security on buses and trains, Metro announced today a workable smartphone app that will allow patrons to report transit-related crimes and suspicious activity that may occur throughout the Metro system.

Metro to Detour Bus Lines Due to Pasadena Marathon on Sunday June 30

Metro July 4 Art Tour Leads to Fireworks, Great Food, Special Discounts

Metro will launch the first in a series of three free summer art tours, Metro Art Moves_DTLA, on Thursday, July 4. The inaugural guided, artist-led tour will end at Grand Park and The Music Center’s 4th of July Block Party event, which will feature live music, food trucks and, for the first time downtown, fireworks.

Full Sepulveda Boulevard Closure Between Valley Vista Boulevard and Sherman Oaks Avenue in Sherman Oaks Planned June 14-16

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements project contractor is anticipated to fully close a section of Sepulveda Boulevard between Valley Vista Boulevard and Sherman Oaks Avenue in Sherman Oaks during the weekend of June 14 – 16, 2013. The weekend closure will begin on Friday, June 14, at 10 p.m. and end on Monday at 6 a.m.

Artist Ramon Ramirez to sign Metro ‘Pico Rivera’ poster at the Rivera Public Library

Artist Ramon Ramirez will sign free copies of his poster celebrating the City of Pico Rivera on Tuesday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. the Rivera Public Library, 7828 S. Serapis Ave., Pico Rivera.  Ramirez was commissioned by Metro Creative Services to create the artwork for the poster series, Through the Eyes of Artists. The program commissions local artists to create original artworks that express the uniqueness of Los Angeles County neighborhoods, as a way of encouraging people to take Metro to explore destinations served by the agency.

Metro to Detour Line 460 due to Alondra Boulevard Bridge Demolition Work

Effective at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 9, buses operating on Metro Line 460 in the Cerritos-Santa Fe Springs-Norwalk area will be detoured due to the demolition of the Alondra Boulevard Bridge. The reconstruction of the bridge, which is part of the Caltrans Freeway Widening Project on the I-5 Freeway between the Orange County Line and the I-605 Freeway, is scheduled to take approximately one year to complete.
