Artist Jessica Polzin McCoy to sign Metro ‘Claremont’ poster at the Claremont Public Library

Artist Jessica Polzin McCoy will sign free copies of her poster celebrating the city of Claremont on Friday, May 31 at the Claremont Library. Polzin McCoy was commissioned by Metro Creative Services to create the artwork for its poster series, Through the Eyes of Artists. The program commissions local artists to create original artworks that express the uniqueness of Los Angeles County neighborhoods, as a way of encouraging people to take Metro to explore destinations served by the agency.

2013 Diamond Awards Recognize Outstanding Efforts of Regional Traffic-Busting Commuter Programs

The Diamond Awards, now in its fifteenth year, are co-sponsored by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) annually to recognize the significant achievements of corporate rideshare programs in the region and their contribution toward decreasing gasoline consumption, air pollution and commuter costs as well as improving mobility. The 2013 Diamond Awards ceremony was held on May 22 at The Grove in Los Angeles.

I-405 Construction Milestone Metro, Caltrans Open First Section of New Freeway Lane on Northbound I-405

Northbound I-405 Freeway Will Close Tonight and Tomorrow Night at Santa Monica Boulevard

A short section of the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway, between the Santa Monica Boulevard on-ramp and the Santa Monica Boulevard off-ramp will be closed tonight and tomorrow night, Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Motorists traveling north will be able to exit the northbound freeway at Santa Monica, go straight through the traffic light and re-enter the freeway on the Santa Monica on-ramp. Because of the full northbound freeway closure, motorists are advised to avoid the area during that time period, as well as directly before and after.

LASD and Metro Announce Arrest of Assault Suspect

Vigilant Bus Operator Identified Suspect 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Metro today announced the arrest of a Reseda man wanted in connection with the assault on a transit bus operator last Friday, May 10, 2013. The suspect, Anthony Gamez, 24, was taken into custody at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 on an Orange Line bus after the on-duty bus operator recognized Gamez from photographs displayed on a “wanted” poster distributed earlier in the day.

Metro Offers Reward For Information On Bus Operator Assault

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, Chair of Metro’s Board of Directors today announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect who recently boarded a Metro bus and assaulted a Metro bus operator causing injuries.
