Sunset Bridge Reconstruction Work to Require Road, Ramp Closures Beginning Sept. 30

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor will reconstruct all approaches to the Sunset Boulevard Bridge that spans the I-405 freeway in West Los Angeles, a construction activity that will require two separate phased 14-day ramp and roadway closures beginning Sept. 30, 2011.

Metro Statement on TTI 2011 Urban Mobility Report findings

Texas Transportation Institute's 2011 Annual Urban Mobility Report released today is the nation's barometer of the rising pressure caused by traffic congestion in 439 urban areas. Although traffic congestion continues to rise in American cities of all sizes, the urban area swath of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Santa Ana is holding the line in the battle with traffic congestion and holding promise of future mobility.

Northbound I-405 Freeway Closure between Getty Center Dr. and Ventura Boulevard Planned Saturday Night, Sept. 24

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements contractor is scheduled to implement a full northbound directional freeway closure between Getty Center Drive and Ventura Boulevard to support the removal and replacement of freeway overhead signs on the night of Saturday, September 24, 2011, weather permitting.

Metro Authorizes Free Fares for Girl Scouts in Honor of 100th Anniversary

The Metro Board today authorized free fares for all Girl Scouts on Oct. 29, 2011 to facilitate attending their 100th anniversary celebration, "Girltopia," at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Convention Center is adjacent to the Metro Blue Line Pico Station.

Metro Board adopts Final Environmental documents for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor light rail project

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors today certified the Final Environmental Impact Statement/ Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIS/FEIR) for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project. The 8.5-mile light rail project now advances into the construction phase, which could begin next year with completion expected by 2018.

Metro to update community on Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will be conducting two public meetings September 21 and 22 to provide an update on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Report (Draft EIS/EIR), which studies extending the Metro Gold Line to cities farther east of Los Angeles.

Metro ExpressLanes Construction to Close San Bernardino Freeway I-10 Transitway Carpool Lanes During Late Night/Early Morning Hours effective Sunday, Sept. 11

The Metro ExpressLanes project to convert carpool lanes on the San Bernardino Freeway I-10 into toll lanes begins Sept. 11. The Metro ExpressLanes project to convert carpool lanes on the Harbor Freeway I-110 into toll lanes began Aug. 7. The ExpressLanes on the I-110 freeway are expected to be completed and opened in late 2012 followed by the completion of the ExpressLanes along the I-10 freeway set to open in early 2013.
